FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
How Much will a conversion for an average car cost ?
Answer ;
A car weighing 1200kg will cost between R250 000 to R300 000

Depending on power and range requirements.
How fast will the vehicle be ?
The vehicle performance will not be compromised.

Motor and controller combinations could easily outperform conventional combustion engines.
How far will the vehicle drive ?
Vehicle weight, Aerodynamic drag coefficient, speed and battery capacity will affect range drastically.

A 1.2 ton vehicle with an average drag coefficient of 0.4 travelling at 80km/h with a battery capacity of 30kWH will have a typical range of 200 km.
How does one know when you need to charge ?
All vehicles will be equipped with a battery status indicator which will display remaining battery capacity.

This is effectively the “fuel gauge” of the EV
FAQ
How long does the vehicle take to recharge ?
Most EV owners will charge from home.

The 220V plug sockets in SA are designed to trip at 15A.

Charging from a 220V, 15 A Socket you will be drawing 3.3kW.

This would mean that in 10 hours you will have charged a 33kWh pack.
How much will driving cost per 100km ?
Using the data above
– 30Kwh to travel 200km

At R3,50per kWh
(Current Electricity costs)

30 x 3.5 = 105.0 per 200km
= R 52,50 per 100km
= R 0,52c per km
How long will the batteries last ?
NMC Lithium Ion batteries have a cycle life of 3000 – 6000 charge cycles when treated correctly

Lipo- Lithium Ion have cycle life of 5000 – 7000 charge cycles.

This means that total mileage of a vehicle with a range of 200km travelled 5000 times will be 1 000 000 km.

Thereafter the vehicle range could be expected to decrease.

What about wear and tear ?
The only moving part in the electric motor is the central rotor which is mounted on 2 replaceable roller bearings.

The engine maintenance synonymous with petrol and Diesel engines will disappear.

Normal wear and tear items will be tyres, suspension components, coolant fluids, drive belts if applicable, wiper blades etc.
